Women’s Service Magazines

In magazine publishing, women’s service category pretty much covers the largest percentage of magazines that exist in the world. Women’s service stretches from fashion and beauty to basically any topic that creates beneficial content focused on women. I’ve worked on Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Essence, Harper’s Bazaar, Allure, InStyle, Marie Claire, and so many others.

Glamour Redesign

Glamour magazine reassembled the very successful team, including myself, that transformed Cosmopolitan magazine only a year before. Under the direction of art director Henry Connell, creative director Donald Robertson and editor-in-chief Bonnie Fuller, I was able to grow my vision for developing concepts, processes and techniques that I would incorporate into my approach for every brand redesign afterwards. Working closely with Henry Connell on both of these projects powerfully transformed my vision and path forward into numerous award winning redesigns and formatting projects.

New Woman Special Issue Formatting

New Woman magazine gave me some of my first opportunities to create formats for special issues as well as theme designs for franchise type annual content. These are just a few of some of those special project initiatives.

Golf For Women Redesign

Golf For Women magazine called me back a few times to art direct this golf magazine specifically for women. What was fun about this particular publication was the fact that they were working to develop new streams of revenue by pushing the magazine into luxury content. I was able to help them develop some of the best fitting luxury content for their audience.

Essence Formatting

Essence magazine was such an amazing opportunity for me to explore the balance between team management and visual development for stories that would link to content development across multiple platforms. Essence was an opportunity to work on such a wide variety of shoots, illustrations and brand design while working with some of the most provocative and stimulating editors in the industry.

Various Prototyping Projects

Over the years there have been so many projects and publications that I’ve been a part of. I certainly couldn’t even count the number of projects I have overseen. The following are formatting and brand design explorations that never saw the light of day but still seemed worth showing.
